Central to WAKE's work is our intentional collaboration with inspiring local leaders and partners in the communities we serve. We are united and driven by our shared dedication to equity, equality and social justice.
I co-founded WAKE to inspire people to contribute to positive change, driven by the community leaders and social entrepreneurs I’ve met worldwide. At WAKE, I focus on network building, strategy, program design, and fundraising to grow our Tech2Empower initiative. With 25+ years of global experience, I’m passionate about connecting people to collaborate and create solutions for a just and equitable future.
Before WAKE, I was Executive Director at the Institute of International Education (IIE) in San Francisco, where I expanded partnerships and established the Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives. I also edited “Women in the Global Economy” and served as a Tech Advisor for the Clinton Global Initiative. My previous work at Cisco Systems and the World Bank focused on education and gender inclusion, particularly in Africa.
My career began as a WorldTeach volunteer in Namibia, igniting my commitment to African education. In 2019, I co-founded Future Fund for Education to support African educational entrepreneurs. I hold degrees from Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins (SAIS). I live in San Francisco with my family and spend most mornings rowing as the sun rises over the Bay.
As Senior Program Manager at WAKE, I manage international programs, recruit and onboard NGOs and social enterprises, and collaborate closely with educational partners and in-country consultants to design and coordinate impactful Tech2Empower programs. I feel fortunate to connect with WAKE’s incredible network of committed women changemakers across the globe. With 10 years of experience in NGO and social project management, my work is driven by a deep passion for uplifting women and girls and building meaningful bridges for collaboration and connection.
Before joining WAKE in 2022, I worked on programs focused on job skill development, creating support networks, and girls’ education. I hold a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from The George Washington University, where I graduated with honors and received the Presidential Scholarship. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, I embraced a new opportunity that led me to the Guatemalan highlands, reinforcing my passion for working across cultures to create meaningful change. Since 2016, I’ve made Guatemala home, sharing it with my husband and two dogs. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
As WAKE’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, I have the privilege of sharing the impact of our work with a growing community of supporters, partners, and collaborators. I’m deeply committed to amplifying the leadership of women addressing critical social issues and advocating for their communities.
With a degree in English Literature and Communications from the University of Michigan, my background in sales and publicity naturally grew from my love for storytelling and connecting with others. These experiences fueled my passion for organizing and fundraising for causes I care about, ultimately leading me to WAKE.
Originally from the Midwest, I now live in California, where I enjoy reading, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. I am passionate about the rights and representation of women, the importance of lifelong learning, and international travel. My personal goal is to eventually visit every continent, so here’s hoping for a future Tech2Empower Antarctica!
I am a creativity-driven, compassion-centered advocate dedicated to building community-based systems that promote equity and holistic health for all. My passion for women-centric social justice work led me to my role as Program and Communications Manager at WAKE, where I help manage program logistics and lead our external communications strategy. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in International Development and a Master of Public Health in Community Health Sciences from Tulane University.
Originally from upstate New York, my academic pursuits and curiosities led me to learn and work alongside rural communities in Nicaragua, Peru, Guatemala, and Argentina, as well as with the Diné people of Navajo Nation on various public health projects. These experiences not only deepened my understanding of the social determinants of health for underserved communities, but also strengthened my commitment to uplifting and advocating for women and minorities. At WAKE, I’m proud to live out this commitment as we support women around the world who are making extraordinary impacts.
Outside of work, I explore Western herbalism, enjoy hosting potlucks with friends, and find peace hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
SInce 2022, as WAKE’s Director of Operations I’ve ensured compliance to policy, and best practice in our daily operations. I’m tasked with oversight of our talented program management team, high level contract negotiations, logistics, and organizational/programmatic budgeting. In partnership with our Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Strategic Partnerships we ensure long term strategy, and institutional impact align with our core mission, and values.
20 years in the non-profit sector, reproductive health care delivery/advocacy, and higher learning led me here. A first gen college grad, I am my Guatemalan immigrant mom’s dream, and hold a BA in Public Relations with a double minor in Marketing & Small Business Development, and an MPS in Health & Wellness Management, concentrated in Corporate Wellness & Leadership from Tulane University. Like my Greek paternal family I find community in good food, genuine laughter, with great company, and aim to incorporate these joys into our programming.
Over the last 20+ years, I’ve had the great fortune to experience work in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors tackling a diverse range of social issues: democracy-building in Kyrgyzstan, small business development in Russia, gender mainstreaming STEM education and careers for girls and women, and the utility of tech for good.
Born to immigrants from the Philippines and raised in rural Eastern Kentucky, I have experienced both the benefits of living in a tight-knit, small town to that persistent feeling of not belonging. After graduating from college, I was on the move from New York to London to Boston to Washington DC to Berkeley and now in Amsterdam.
Prior to WAKE, I worked in program design and development for various nonprofits, co-founded and led operations at Scientific Adventures for Girls, and I currently consult the UN Development Programme. I believe all my experiences have helped to open my mind; to carefully consider all perspectives no matter how difficult; and to be a really good listener so I can meet the needs of the people and organizations I serve.
My personal mission is to work towards an equal future, and I am excited to bring my skills and knowledge to WAKE's programs.
When I am not working, you can often find me taking photos of my cat Haichiko, jogging (and getting lost on a new route), reading one of 10 unfinished books, watching newly released movies with my husband or eating ice cream with my three children.
